NAPSA Stars FC camped for 21-days in Nakonde to prepare for the 2019 FAZ/MTN Super league season which is scheduled to kick start on January 26, 2019.
Team head coach Mohamed Fathi was in Nakonde from December 2nd to 23rd , 2018, with a 28-man squad, but the coach is yet to conclude on his final team to carry out the task of fighting for the league title this year.
Fathi is hopeful that this season will be far much better than the previous one, and is stressing that Napsa Stars FC will work hard to see the team finally take part in continental football.
In Nakonde, the team played a number of friendly matches with division one sides Real Nakonde and Mpande Academy, as well as Tanzanian Premiere League side Lipuli FC.
Napsa Stars beat Real Nakonde twice recording 1-0, 4-1 result, and drew 0-0 in the other game the two teams played against each other.
With Lipuli FC, Napsa Stars won 2-0 and beat Mpande Academy 2-1.
Coach Fathi was after these friendly matches, confident with how the 2019 season would turn out for the team. He adds that the friendly matches gave him and his technical bench an insight of which areas to continue working on.
The team during their stay in Nakonde also held different intensive training sessions as well as gatherings to help in team cohesion.
And unfortunately, midfielder Collins Sikonbe strained his ankle during a friendly game with Real Nakonde FC.
Napsa Stars FC has had a few training sessions here in Lusaka after getting back from Nakonde, and the head coach gave the players some days off training to enjoy the holidays with family.
All players are expected to resume training this coming Monday January 7, 2019.
