(Lusaka, 3 April, 2019)

NAPSA Stars Football Club has assured its shareholders, fans, and other stakeholders that the team is poised to regain better performance in the remaining matches of the on-going transitional soccer league.

Speaking after closed-door meetings with the shareholders, the technical team and the players, the Board Chairperson, Mr. Stanley Zingani Phiri, acknowledged that the team has had a bad run in the first half of the season, but was quick to state that that was a simple “glitch” that would soon be overcome. He stated that the Board and Management of the Club had done a comprehensive post-mortem of the first half and come up with strategies to change the tide.

“We have had some very detailed and length discussions with the Management, technical team and the players to analyse first half performance, which of course we are not very happy about. Representatives of the soccer fans also submitted their views. We have come up with strategies to improve performance as we go through the second half.

“We know that the group we are in is very tough looking at how teams are exchanging positions and the difference in points. But I would like to assure our fans and other stakeholders that we are on course to regain good performance. Of course our players know that they need to die a little for the club to achieve this. Our technical bench also knows very well what their targets are and we are confident that they will rise to the occasion. We believe with these interventions, performance is going to improve and we will reclaim our top position. We only require two to three wins and we will be back,” said Mr Phiri.

NAPSA Stars is sitting sixth on the table with a six-point difference with the leaders Buildcon. The team needs only two wins to go into the top three. With eight games to go, the team has clear chances of going top.
