Napsa Stars maintained third place after defeating Police sponsored side Nkwazi FC in a week seven MTN Super league match played at Edwin Imboela Stadium yesterday.
Speedy winger, Austin Banda came in as substitute in the 57th minute after replacing Simon Nkata to score the only goal of the match in the 80th minute. Austin shot his chance and beat Nkwazi goalkeeper and two defenders.
It was a tightly contested local derby which saw Napsa make all three substitutions with other players that were introduced being Thomas Banda who came in for Laudit Mavugo as well as Isaac Simbuwa who came in for Bornwell Mwape.
The match also had some emotions attached to it after seeing Napsa Stars Skipper Dickson Chapa being sent off after being booked twice.
Chapa’s first yellow card came after the player tried to question the referee for booking his team mate Bornwell Mwape, while the second yellow was as a result of a foul.
The team captain who was also celebrating his birthday on the same day, was sent off in the 72nd minute and will miss the next match against Buildcon FC in Ndola.
Team head coach Mohamed Fathi said in his post-match interview that he was happy with the result despite playing one man down.
“Nkwazi is tactically strong but we maintained focus, I am happy for this result especially that we have not recorded a win in our last three matches,” Fathi said.
The win over Nkwazi saw Napsa record their fourth win this season from the seven games played, with other results being two draws and one loss.
