The pensioners recorded another victory yesterday after defeating Sensational Zanaco FC in a week 12 MTN Super league match played at Woodlands Stadium yesterday.
And Napsa Stars FC Head Coach Mohamed Fathi says the win over Zanaco was an important one for Napsa Stars.
It was Napsa’s 21-year-old striker Doisy Soko who scored his first goal for the pensioners in the 5th minute to give Napsa an early lead which was only enjoyed till the 27th minute when Zanaco equalised through a Moussa Souleymanou goal.
Napsa Stars did not seem to relax after this equaliser as this Mohamed Fathi coached side continued pushing till referee Janny Sikazwe awarded them a penalty, just seconds to the end of the first half.
It was Collins Sikombe who stepped up to score a penalty which was caused by Zanaco defender Lombard Tiberius after he fouled Aaron Kabwe inside the box.
In Just 20minutes into the second half, Zanaco’s Roger Kola restored parity for his side when he second in the 63rd minute.
The fight did not end for this Napsa Stars FC side who scored their third and winning goal in the 81st minute through a Luka Banda header which he benefited from Doisy Soko.
Head Coach Mohamed Fathi expressed his happiness with the victory saying his side put up a very good fight to carry the three points.
“It was a good fight, and an imported game and an important result. Zanaco is big team so this shows that we are in the right direction. We have to maintain our winning form,” Fathi said.
Coach Fathi said that only God knows what rest of the season holds, but was also quick to add that his side will keep focus in all remaining matches to achieve the goal of playing continental football.
The win over Zanaco saw Napsa Stars FC record their seventh win in 11 matches played and maintain second position with 24 points, four points behind log leaders Zesco United FC and a point better than third placed Red Arrows FC who have 23 points.
